Regurgitation and reflux in babies

Your baby has reflux after feeding? This physiological phenomenon is very common during the first months of an infant's life.

  • In most cases, regurgitation, also called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is not dangerous for your child's health.
  • It is simply a backflow of milk mixed with saliva from the stomach into the mouth.
  • Don't confuse reflux with vomiting, which involves muscular effort.
  • Reflux naturally disappears around 9 to 12 months of age, when baby is standing up.
  • If reflux is too frequent, painful, and happens away from meals, consult your pediatrician.

Hi. im a first time mom. my baby is a premie. ? she is currently having horrible colics, reflux gas . she is being fed both formula and breastmilk. i cant change her formula now since she is drinking enfamil enfacare which is for premature babies. idk if its that or my breastmilk . but any suggestions ? i tried everything such as having her sit up . feeding her and burping her every 1oz . etc. idk if i can give her any medications with her only being 2 weeks old . if so name a brand .and ofcourse ill ask her doctor on my next visit if its ok for her to start using that before giving it to her. i told her doctor about her situation and he only said it was normal but never mentioned a formula changed or any medication #premie #colic #reflux #firsttimemom

Maybe try liquid formula instead of powder, my mom told me that powder used to give me horrible colics so she switched and it was better

do you have anti colic bottles? and also look up some baby massages for gas & laying on their tummy can help get it moving, i think babies can have gripe water after 2 weeks too but i could be wrong, there’s also gas relief for babies that cvs sells but i’m not sure what the age is for that either so check first

The fact that my bf doesn't understand that you can't just switch formulas. I get the shortage is scary but my baby eats the yellow can Enfamil, switching to the pink can will cause my baby issue's cause it has rice for babies that have reflux.
