Cradle cap in babies

Cradle cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis) is common in babies and not a serious condition. Here is how to treat it:

  • The excess of sebum causes the appearance of small whitish or yellowish oily or crusty patches on the scalp of babies.
  • Cradle cap is harmless, and simply a form of baby dandruff.
  • They disappear spontaneously and quickly.
  • If you want to speed up the process, massage your child's scalp with an emollient cream, leave it on for a few minutes and then shampoo it by gently rubbing the scalp.
  • If the cradle cap persists, don't hesitate to talk to your pediatrician.

My baby is having a cradle cap and i tried to remove it by bathing him occasionally, applaying coconut oil on his head. I am also using the cradle cap kit to remove it but its reoccuring. My question is how much time does it take to heal completely? Is there any other better way to remove cradle cap?

Oh I used mustela cradle cap shampoo and it came right off took a few baths to get it all out but it worked. Your baby will be bald when you get it out but it will grow back lol I found it in target in the baby soap section

I used coconut oil on my sons head and then combed it. We have a special cradle cap brush but a regular brush works fine too! I also put lotion on his head after but my son has sensitive skin so you don’t really have to do that.

thank you! I'm not sure if it is cradle cap or just peeling it rubs off really easily but it's right at the front on his head
