Detecting ovulation based on body temperature
If you want to maximize your chances of getting pregnant, taking your body temperature can help you know when to conceive.
- During your cycle, your temperature fluctuates.
- If your cycle is not regular, analyzing your temperature curve can help you identify when you are ovulating, that is, when you are most fertile.
- From the beginning of your cycle (first day of menstruation) to day 14, your temperature is pretty much the same, around 98,6 °F. It drops sharply just before ovulation and then rises back above 98,6 °F. It is this sharp drop that you need to spot.
- For a reliable result, always take your temperature at the same time, in the morning when you get up.
