The main steps of IVF
If you want to learn more about in vitro fertilization, we'll explain the main steps and treatments involved.
- IVF consists of fertilizing an egg "in vitro", i.e. outside the body, and placing the resulting embryo in the woman's uterus so that it can continue to develop normally.
- This technique is performed in a hospital with an assisted reproduction department.
- First, the ovaries are stimulated with hormonal treatment, then the oocytes are retrieved and placed in the presence of numerous sperms to maximize the chances of fertilization.
- The last step is to put the embryos in place.
