Beginning of labor: how to recognize the signs?

As the big day approaches, there are many signs that help the mother-to-be to recognize the start of labor.

  • The first signs appear between two and four weeks before delivery.
  • You will feel a decrease in pressure as the baby lowers and the uterus pushes less on your diaphragm.
  • You may notice a thickening of vaginal discharge, looking like raw egg white.
  • Some moms-to-be lose the mucous plug, which indicates that the cervix is dilating.
  • You may have more frequent bowel movements because prostaglandin, the hormone that helps the uterus mature, is also the hormone that stimulates the bowel.
  • If these many signs show the preparation of the body for childbirth, only waters break and frequent contractions indicate the real beginning of labor.
  • Be careful not to confuse these signs with false labor. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to call the maternity ward.

Need to vent! My Ob just told me he is scheduling my C-section on my actual due date-all because he has to go on vacation for the whole month of June! Wtf! He even told me I cannot start labor on my own because of my three previous C-section. He said it could make me hemorrhage due to all the scar tissue. And now he’s saying it’s ok! I’m so fed up with drs! He legit doesn’t care about me. I can go into labor any day in June and he isn’t going to be available ???

In that case you could just go to the labor and delivery and they can help you,it doesn't have to even be him

Have any of you ladies were prescribed progesterone? My cervix is measuring smaller than usual which can lead to preterm labor. I’m scared to start taking the medicine because I haven’t confirmed with my obgyn

I was Im high risk due to short cervix first time I did vagina suppository made it to 36 weeks 1 day second time I opt out of it and made it 40 and 1day and that’s because they induced me because I wasn’t even dilated and now this time I opt out but I strongly suggest you speak to your doctor because everyone is different

my induction is tomorrow & this little girl better not start labor today like her brother did last year ? i got alot of shit to do today & need her to stay put till 5pm tomorrow ????
