Milk, weaning... How to manage the end of breastfeeding?

You have decided to stop breastfeeding and feed your baby formula instead. But how do you organize the weaning? Which milk should you choose?

  • It is advisable to plan a two-week weaning period so that baby's digestive system can adapt.
  • Gradually reduce the number of daily feedings by replacing them with a bottle.
  • If your baby is less than six months old, use infant milk; if he is more than six months old, follow-on milk is best.
  • Your baby may refuse to take a bottle, as she does not feel the warmth of the breast, so buying a physiological nipple will allow for a smooth transition.
  • You can also ask your pediatrician or a nurse at the maternity and baby health center for advice if you encounter difficulties.
