The first vaccines for infants
Even as an infant, a baby must be vaccinated to protect against diseases and avoid contaminating other children. Here's how it should go:
- From now on, 11 vaccines are mandatory for infants born from January 1, 2018.
- The first injections take place at 2 months of age.
- The first vaccines administered are those against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pertussis, Influenza type B (flu), pneumococcus and hepatitis B.
- For effective protection, a booster shot is required at 4 and 11 months of age.
- Vaccination is essential for your baby to be admitted to a group setting, such as a daycare center.
Make sure you follow the CDC’s childhood immunization schedule for all recommended vaccines.
