Postpartum anemia
Anemia affects many women, especially after childbirth. How do you deal with this chronic iron deficiency?
- Postpartum anemia occurs when your hemoglobin levels are below 110 g/L one week after delivery and below 120 g/L eight weeks after delivery.
- This condition is often associated with severe blood loss or a diet low in iron.
- The main symptoms are extreme fatigue, unusual paleness, palpitations, and dizziness.
- Sometimes, diet alone is not enough to make up for the deficiency, so supplements are required.
