Back to menstruation pads: when does it happen?

Sooner or later, your period will come back after your baby is born. When should you expect it?

  • About ten days after giving birth, a "bit" of period occurs. This short bleeding lasts about two days.
  • This should not be confused with the "real" menstruation, which takes six to eight weeks to come back.
  • If you're breastfeeding, it's a little different: your ovulation is delayed by prolactin, a hormone produced during the feeding, so your cycle will resume its normal course afterward.
