If you think you have gestational diabetes, don't worry, a medical team will test you to see if you do.
Gestational diabetes is detected between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy using a relatively simple and quick test. They will measure your blood sugar levels in an oral glucose tolerance test.
You are then asked to ingest a large amount of glucose at one time, and then the test is done by taking two blood samples, one hour and then two hours after ingestion.
A single blood glucose value equal to or higher than the defined thresholds establishes the diagnosis.
