Egg donation: for whom? why?

More than 500 women donate their eggs every year, also called oocytes.

• If you have ever thought about donating your gametes, you should know that it is easier for men than for women, who have to undergo treatment and a small operation.
• By taking several eggs from one woman, the needs of more than 1,200 couples are met every year.
• Approximately 3% of children are born through egg donation and assisted reproduction (IVF and artificial insemination).
