Practice breastfeeding from birth

You've heard about breastfeeding from birth and you're wondering what it is?

  • Yes, you've got it right: after the immeasurable efforts you've just made to bring your baby into the world, it's a matter of offering him a welcome feed.
  • Even if it may seem difficult, the benefits are numerous.
  • Your lactation will be stimulated as soon as possible if you want to breastfeed.
  • Both you and your baby will be comforted by the lactation hormones.
  • The colostrum will give your baby a good start in the digestive system.
  • He will receive your antibodies to fight germs.
  • You'll find the energy you need for this special moment!

One thing I didn't do during my first pregnancy that I MADE SURE I did during this pregnancy is FULLY educate myself on breastfeeding. It was overwhelming after I delivered my first son to have 10 different nurses walking in and out telling me 10 different do's and don'ts while I was trying to breastfeed AND even stopping me in the middle of breastfeeding just to tell me something else ? I COMPLETELY gave up breastfeeding before I even left the hospital and I blame myself for not having the least bit of education on how to breastfeed my child. I'M READY THIS TIME AND I'M TELLING THOSE NURSES TO BACK THE HELL UP ?? # Educate&AdvocateForYourself

Yes!!! Empower yourself with that knowledge! I hate that sort of crap. Like can they let you TRY it on your own first before getting all up in your buisiness with their 2 cents?! Did i ask for help yet? Geez hahah

I know alot of people will probably get triggered by this post because of the formula shortage but ignore and keep scrolling if so. I 100% support fed is best so don't get me wrong either. I know some men and women think breastfeeding is the the easiest out of breastfed and formula fed. But women breastfeeding know the difficulty of it. Some days are good some days are bad. Some days latching and colicky are problems. Cluster feeding and multiple times during the night being awake. Breast and nipple pain. Stress if your baby is getting enough. Formula fed has its struggles too. I'm not saying it don't. Feeding newborns and infants isn't a walk in the park either way, breastfed or formula fed. I have been breastfeeding for 4 months straight. And it's a lot of work. I feel like any soon to be mothers need to hear this when deciding how to feed their child. Deciding off which one is easier. They're just as equal of a struggle!!

For all my breastfeeding mommas, have any if you ever went through a loosing weight phase while breastfeeding? I feel even more like a skeleton then I ever have before. Idk what to really do about it besides slow down breast feeding for a while until I can get a little weight back and be able to get the nutrients in me that I need to pass on to my child. I'm seriously not earing right or something. I may need to try protein shakes but plant based.

Yessssss. I hated that so much I felt like I was a skeleton. My self esteem dropped. I’m 120 I looked about 90 or 80 pounds and it’s hard for me to keep weight on like that. /:

lord my daughter does too but she eats in small sections. She is about to be 2 weeks old tomorrow and only gained 1 pound or close to 1 lbs. She was 5.8 ounces she is now 6 lbs. I don't believe I'm eating right either. I have an increased appetite but it never seems to be satisfied. I think that may be my problem. She needs more nutrients then I'm getting

Breastfeeding mammas!!! I have this recipe I used for my firstborn that allowed me to nurse him for 2 years My own lactation cookies, lol 1 whole jar of peanut butter 2 eggs 2 cups to 2.5cups of rolled oats 0.5 cup of sugar, my mom says they taste good with brown sugar too but I haven't tried it. 2 tablespoons of organic hemp protien seeds Mix it all together and put tablespoon sized balls of the dough onto buttered cookie sheet. I like to then press mine down a bit with a fork, criss crossed. Put in the oven for about 10 min(depending on how chewy you want them) at 450° Let them cool for a few min if you want, I like them warm ? most of the time. Then enjoyyy!! This recipe usually yields about 12 cookies for me. Let me know how yall like them!! And I hope they work as great for you as they do for me! And good luck on your breastfeeding journeys

Hey breastfeeding mama’s. How do you all know your breastfeeding baby got enough to eat? Also what do you suggest for sore nipples after feeding? #Breastfeeding #MilkProduction #BabyHealth

You can apply nipple cream and try to alternate if that helps. Also for a newborn Their stomach is as big as a cherry.

Breastfeeding is a supply-and-demand system. The more demand on the system through breastfeeding the baby, the more milk the body makes. Occasionally, nature's system is imperfect. Sometimes the body takes a day or two to catch up to a baby's increased breastfeeding demand during a growth spurt. It is not dependent on your breast size. Feed the baby, make milk

Amen. What grinds my gears is that some women won’t even attempt to breastfeed and they’re going to be regretting it when their baby is hungry and there’s no formula anymore.

I don’t know if this may seem silly, but has any new moms experienced feelings of fearing that your newborn won’t know that you’re their mama? I’ve been feeling this way because I’ve been spending my maternity leave at my parents house (my son was born almost three weeks ago) and my mom, dad, and sister has been helping me. I’m worried that he may not know if I, my mom, or sister is his mother. Majority of the time, either my sister or my parents “take the night shift” as we say, so that I can get my rest. But now, my mom guilt is setting in and what if he doesn’t know that I’m his mom? I spend as much time with him during the day as I can, but of course my family wants to sometimes hold him and play with him during the day as well. I also tried breastfeeding him in the early days but my milk supply was slow at coming in and I was worried that he wasn’t getting enough, and I like knowing how much my baby is getting. So once my milk came in a little more, I just pumped and fed it to him in a bottle. When I woke up this morning to try to nurse him for the first time in a while, he wouldn’t really latch. I’m so scared that he may not know that I’m his mom anymore ? I’ve addressed my concerns to my family and they all say that he definitely knows that I’m his mama and that they have no clue why I feel this way. I just love my baby so much and don’t want him to feel like im abandoning him at night. He’s very colicky and my mama said that she takes him at night because she can tell that it scares me when he’s in pain. I also want to mention that my breast were very sore and would hurt when I did attempt breastfeeding. Also, they were cracking and peeling, and there was one instance where a big piece was in my baby’s mouth, which freaked me out. So that’s when I decided that I would just feed it to him in a bottle along with formula supplementation.

I was told to wait 2hours per glass of wine before breastfeeding otherwise you would have to pump and dump. If by chance you do have to pump in between that time you could always save that milk and do a milk bath if your worried of wasting the milk

Anyone have been experiencing sharp pain in left side for couple days. I have it for 4 days it never go away every time I move or take breath or get up I couldn't move. My left legs was sore for 2 weeks. I'm 28 weeks it's too early for me to have baby. I can't bear it if my baby born early and being in nicu. My 3rd son was in nicu for 2 weeks it's awful and difficult experience for me. I don't want to lose my opportunity to being breastfeeding my baby for 2nd time. Yes, I did breastfeeding my 4th son. Not all of my 3 sons- they was on formula.
