The benefits of breast milk

Nature's way: the milk you produce provides your child with everything they need to develop properly.

  • Many scientific studies have proven the health benefits of breastfeeding.
  • Breast milk protects against respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.
  • It's hypoallergenic and very digestible.
  • It reduces the risk of infant overweight, inflammatory diseases, and sudden death (SIDS).
  • The composition of breast milk changes depending on the baby's age.
  • Finally, breastfeeding your child creates a special emotional bond and a real moment of sharing between you two.

So we are trying to quite formula supplementing and go straight breast milk. My little man is about 10weeks and he will drink, if you let him, 7oz of breast milk I feel like that's to much for him but idk what to do to get him back to 4-6oz cuz my mil was over feeding him and giving him 4oz formula and 2oz breast milk sometimes he would get up to 8oz total. I know he's been getting way to much but I don't know what they feeding him while I'm at work. He constantly has a belly ache idk if it's cuz he's over fed or what. But I want him to drink what I can supply without supplementing anymore. I can get about 2oz every 2hrs. I nurse on demand when im home or as much as i can. I've been trying to increase my supply but I'm getting discouraged by my supply as well. #needinghelp #breastfeeding #breastmilk

i’m not a doctor but maybe try feeding him small amounts often so he thinks he’s eating the same but you’re actually decreasing a few ml at a time?

I was gonna suggest the same thing smaller feeds. I saw a breastfeeding consultant who said that while breastfeeding the baby is only gonna eat like 4-6 Oz at a time which is why we think we're not producing enough when we are. Also as strange as it is I looked it up if you shake before pumping you should be able to get more.

Have you tried via insurance? Insurance is required to cover the cost of a pump. It's why OB's don't recommend putting one on registries

If you have insurance they usually will cover a pump.. some hospitals have pumps they can give you they are just not usually electric ones.. Or you can hand express.. (you can Google how to hand express)

I'm trying to get into the groove of pumping my breast milk... Ladies I have one question.... Why do you label your milk bags when your breast milk can last for 6 months in a freezer...and 4days in the fridge ?‍♀️

I label mine by the amount & date bc it’s good to know when you stored the milk.

In the fridge you want to know which is the oldest and which is the most fresh so you know what order to feed the baby and don't accidentally use one that is too old.

So I have a total of 8oz of milk ( 6oz breast milk 2oz formula )that has been refrigerated for almost 24 hrs. Any milk that I pump during my shift at work gets used the next day for my son while I’m away. He had a total of 17oz this morning, and there is still one full bottle left. I’ll most likely give it a 4 oz bottle of it tonight before bed but I was planing on saving the rest of the milk for tomorrow. Would that be bad? I tried searching it up and I’m still not sure, I want to get somebody else’s opinion. What should I do?

12 month old baby girl currently loves her milk (primarily breast milk at this time), but pediatrician says we need to limit to 12-24 ounces a day. Is this true?

Is it possible to bottle feed your baby but with your breast milk. So I would pump and use a bottle instead of putting the baby to the boob. Mainly because I’ve heard it’s hard to switch from boob to bottle and my baby will go to daycare once it’s time for me to return to work but I want to use my breast milk. I’m a first time mom, so this may be a dumb question.
