How to choose a bottle nipple?

In the bottle nipple section, it's hard to choose from all the many brands and models available. So which one should you choose?

  • Latex or silicone? Natural, latex nipples are made from rubber tree sap and are flexible, making them easier to adapt to the baby's mouth.
  • The new generation of silicone nipples has no odor or color and is less flexible, making them more difficult to suck on.
  • In terms of flow rate, brands offer slow, medium, or fast speed nipples. Before six months, choose the slow or medium flow rate. The choice of bottle nipple is then made according to the baby's appetite: if he is a good eater, the intermediate speed will be ideal.
  • Today, many anti-colic nipples are available, with a valve that prevents the baby from swallowing too much air and with more flexibility in comparison to that of the breast.

How did you guide your baby to hold their bottle? My baby boy tries but he doesn't lift the bottle up so the milk is at the nipple. I don't know if it's cause he's only 3 months and 3 weeks old, maybe he's too young

They figure it out on their own. My son started holding his bottle at about 5/6 months. 3 months is a little young to.

Is similac okay for babies ? I need to get off breastfeeding it’s making me miserable ☹️ I regret not starting off with a bottle cause I think she just likes the feel of my nipple better than a bottle & it’s killing me.

Yes it’s okay, I use similac & I breastfeed. But I try to refrain from using similac because now I’m producing a lot more. My baby hates bottles omg, I’ll put breastmilk in the bottle and she’d prefer my boob over that ?

But honestly do what’s suits you and you’re baby the best. Talk with your baby pediatrician first before putting baby on any formula.

Any moms have a baby that had bottle aversion? My 3 month old would not take a bottle because of the aversion. She is a breastfed baby. Now that we worked on it with the lactation consultant she no longer screams at the site of a bottle. We just cannot get her to latch. The MAM she tolerates but just plays around with it in her mouth. We have tried every single bottle on the market. Any tips on getting her to latch besides warming the nipple, putting it in my shirt, having someone else giving her the bottle while I leave the house?

Is the nipple of the bottle shaped like the nipple of a breast? I brought bottles from Herobility. My baby loves it. I think it’s the feel and texture of it.

The MAM thins out at the top. We just need her to physically suck it

So update on the whole bottle thing: Late last night he wanted a bottle of milk to help him go back to sleep. I went to get him a bottle only to notice he bit a hole into the nipple. It was the only bottle as I try to only keep the one around since we were trying to transition to cup. I threw the bottle in the trash & figured I’d just go to the store a buy a new one in the morning. I gave him one of those cups that comes with the different tops ok all the different characters (I gave him the scooby doo one). HE ACTUALLY TOOK TO IT!!!! ???? I have literally tried every kind of cup to mankind & nothing worked before. So guess who’s going to the store to buy a shit load of those characters and NOT a bottle.
